The Motive are a self-titled indie punk four piece band from Birmingham, England headed by Add Jones. Other members include guitarist Bamba, bassist Biff and drummer Chris Green who was previously a member of The Regulars. The Motive have been through several lineups and musical styles with Jones being the only constant element, however it seems as if the band have reached some kind of stability with its current line up. The band play the Birmingham and Black Country toilet circuit, including the Flapper and Firkin and the Jug of Ale venues. They have recently begun to branch out, playing at festivals such as the Wireless Festival and have recently supported Rick Buckler's band, The Gift. == Name == The Motive have been through several names, including: *The Dallas Technocrats *Self Drive *Sub Stereo The final band name was decided upon when a friend of the band told them he had a dream where he fronted a band called The Motive.
